At the end of 2016 the largest number of households with a foreign mother tongue lived in Mellunkylä and Vuosaari districts. The share of such households was highest – one in five - in Jakomäki and Mellunkylä, followed by Vuosaari (17 %)  and Vartiokylä (16 %) districts. Tenure status of households with a foreign mother tongue varies with district, and reflects their general tenure structure. State-subsidised housing, which is the most common tenure form among households with a foreign mother tongue in general, is dominant mainly in the eastern and north-eastern Helsinki. Renting on the free market is most common in the southern and central Helsinki.
